January 2002
Suncoast Classic
WAFFF's inaugural tournament held in St. Petersburg on January 19th and 20th, 2002, was a great weekend. The weather was gorgeous (in the 70's and sunny), the fields were fabulous, the host hotel was convenient and reasonably priced and the football was competitive and exciting. A good time was had by all who attended and participated-even the fans.

The Chicago Free Agents took home the $750 championship check and trophy by edging out the St. Louis The Zone, 7-6. The Philadelphia Bungalow team, in their first national tournament, won a thriller over the Cincinnati Rats, 20-14, to sew up third place.

Other participating teams included the Tampa Jungle, Rhode Island Purple Spirit, Tampa Brew Crew and St. Petersburg Perfect Storm. All teams played a minimum of four games in the round robin and single elimination style tournament.
