MISSION WAFFF is a membership organization dedicated to the promotion of flag football for women and girls throughout the United States and Canada.
WAFFF LEADERSHIP TEAM
President Richard W. Schoenkopf is a life long advocate of all sports. As a young man, he played football, track and field, and baseball. For several years, he was a football official in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. Dick's primary goal is to promote flag football and to provide a venue for women athletes to enjoy the sport and to achieve their potential as athletes and as people. He knows that the skills learned in team sports have a direct carry-over to success in business and indeed in life.
Dick retired a successful executive from Phillip Morris where he spent thirteen years overseeing the sales, marketing, and merchandising of their largest global brands. Currently, he is Chairman of the Board of Avantext, and serves on the boards of EST Group and CDS Analytical. An army veteran of the Korean War era, Dick holds a BS in Psychology with a minor in Mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University, and attended graduate school for Industrial Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. Today, he continues to play recreational tennis and golf.
Vice President Nancy D. Spears is no stranger to flag football. In fact, in the first powder puff game she played in junior high, she caught the pass that scored the winning touchdown, setting a school record for the first time a 7th grade team beat the opposing 8th grade girls. From then on, she was hooked and has been both a player and leader in the development of flag football for women ever since.
Nancy has been a WAFFF board member since 2001. In that same year, she worked tirelessly and successfully to start a women’s flag football recreational league with the help of WAFFF and the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. Nancy continues to play recreational softball, basketball, and flag football, and in her spare time volunteers for non-profit organizations. Nancy holds a BA in Economics from U.C. Berkeley, and an MBA from Duke University.
Director of Marketing Amy Price has been making moves on fields for a long time, even those beyond flag football. She grew up playing soccer, and had an illustrious college career as a top soccer athlete. After she moved “beyond the glory,” she continued to make strides in the world of sports by coaching youth soccer, basketball, and baseball for boys.
Amy has been working to build up WAFFF since 2002, and continues to be a leader and advocate for the equality of women’s flag football. Prior to her work with WAFFF, she was a marketing representative for Xerox Corporation, and also spent a number of years running a full-service sports camp for youth and teens. Amy holds a BS in Marketing from Temple University.
Director of Game Operations Alicia L. Freeman joined WAFFF in 2007, with over a decade’s worth of experience playing and coaching a variety of sports. While she’s played flag football for many years, Alicia currently plays as the Defensive Back for the California Quake professional women’s football team. She has shown true leadership on and off the field, as she has been the team captain, conditioning coach, and special events coordinator.
But she doesn’t just stop with football. Alicia has competed across the United States in track, basketball, football, softball, tennis, and bowling tournaments. Clearly sports are a big part of her life, and she is happy to find another opportunity to be involved by joining WAFFF. Alicia holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and is currently attending business school for Sports Management.
WAFFF Advisory Board Made up of nine women and four men, the national Advisory Board recommends solutions regarding the affairs, policies and business of WAFFF on behalf of its members.
